Professional Window Cleaning Squeegees
Since 1980, Sören "Sörbo" Samuelsson, a pioneer of the early window-cleaning industry, has earned global recognition for designing and manufacturing the world's most innovative window-cleaning squeegees. His greatest triumph, the Wide-Body Squeegee, is a precision-engineered squeegee that forever changed the way professional window cleaners wash windows. The innovative cross-sectional design of this squeegee laid the foundation for many of Sörbo’s groundbreaking products, earning Sören Samuelsson the title of “Godfather of the Wide-Body Squeegee”.
What Sets Sörbo Apart From The Rest:
The 3×4 Wide Body Design: The squeegee was long considered a flawless tool that didn’t need refining. But thanks to his fresh perspective, Sören Samuelsson proved it could be upgraded.
The invention of his 3x4® Wide Body Design squeegee completely redefined what a squeegee could do, forever changing the window cleaning industry. This new model made window cleaning faster, easier, and more profitable, transforming an everyday tool into an innovative new category of its own. Typically, when standard channel lengths are over 18 inches, they tend to have some flex in them. That flex causes uneven pressure across the rubber, which can leave streaks and make it harder to get a clean pull. The wide body, though, is thicker, so it eliminates that potential for flex. This ingenious design is how Sörbo was able to make the eliminator channel go up to 72 inches! Precision-engineered and extruded from aluminum, it offers unmatched rigidity!
The second big innovation with these channels is the 3x4 design. It lets you run the rubber in different slots inside the channel, depending on how you like it set up; whether you want more rubber sticking out the top or tucked in tighter. It’s also really handy if you’re using the Docket to trim your rubber down as it wears. Instead of tossing it once it gets short, you can keep moving it to another slot and keep running the same blade longer.
- Made in the USA: Sörbo tools have been manufactured in Palm Desert, California, since 1986. Before he got into production, Sören Samuelsson ran a lucrative window cleaning business for years in California. That’s where he invented a series of time-saving and money-saving tools driven by his relentless pursuit of efficiency, quality, and profitability. Once he realized other window cleaners could benefit from his inventions, he started manufacturing his tools to sell. Sörbo Products continues to produce gear that window cleaners worldwide revere to this day.
- Industry-Leading Size Range: From the Sörbo Complete Swivel Quicksilver Squeegee, which offers a 5-inch channel, to The Eliminator, which comes in at a massive 72 inches, Sörbo covers every window you’ll ever clean! What is a wide-body squeegee?
Sörbo Samuelsson’s 3x4® Wide Body Design squeegee is a thicker channel model that improves window cleaning by reducing uneven pressure and potential for flex that longer channels produce across glass. The second great innovation of these channels is the 3x4 design, which allows window cleaners to put the rubber in different slots within the channel to adjust to their preference.
What size squeegee should I use for professional window cleaning?
The squeegee you need will depend on the size of the glass and the general layout of the windows.
- For small windows: We suggest using a smaller channel, between the 5 - 14 inch complete squeegee, like the options found in the Sörbo Complete Swivel Quicksilver Squeegee.
- For standard commercial windows: A solid 18 - 24-inch channel, like the options found in the Sörbo Complete Swivel Viper Squeegee are ideal for standard, larger commercial windows. A longer length channel will cut down on time and energy for you!
- For large plate glass: When you face especially large windows, go big or go home, as they say! Go for a complete squeegee that offers a range from 30 - 36-inches such as the Sörbo Complete Swivel Cobra Squeegee. For even larger panes, the Eliminator dominates with ranges between 48 - 72 inches.
Awkward windows or corners: The precision-engineered Sörbo Multi-Squeegee Adjustable Channel is built to handle awkward windows like French doors. The Sörbo Tricket is a unique, tong-like squeegee-scrubber combination tool that is adept at cleaning jalousie or louvered-type windows.
What is the difference between a squeegee channel and a complete squeegee?
A squeegee channel is the long, metal body that holds the rubber and slides into the handle to clean glass. Buy an individual channel when you need a new size or encounter a unique window with specific needs. A complete squeegee, however, is the entire squeegee, handle, channel, rubber, and all, already put together and good to go right out of the box! Buy a complete squeegee when you want to get rolling with window cleaning immediately!
How often should I replace my squeegee rubber?
t’s wise to inspect your rubber after every few jobs, especially if you’re working during hotter or colder months when temperatures reach extremes. This can cause more stress on the rubber, causing you to work unnecessarily harder. Replace your rubber when you notice frequent streaking left behind on glass or when the rubber shows visible wear and tear, such as cuts or damaged edges. Remember, the lifespan of your rubber varies by cleaning frequency! We highly recommend buying rubbers in bulk so that you’re never without, should you need a quick rubber change!
What makes Sörbo squeegees different from other brands?
Sörbo sets itself apart thanks to the invention of the wide-body squeegee. Plus, Sörbo is proud to produce all of its top-of-the-line products in the USA. Last but not least, Sörbo offers the largest size range in the industry of professional-grade materials! Simply put, other brands just can’t compete with the innovation behind the Sörbo name!
Are Sörbo squeegees made in the USA?
Yes, Sörbo has been proudly manufacturing domestically since 1986.
How to Choose the Right Window Cleaning Squeegee:
Squeegee Size:
To save yourself time and energy, it’s vital to select a channel length that will work with you and not against you. Because Sörbo channels work universally with most Sörbo handles, choosing the right size channel comes down to the job at hand.
- For larger windows: For large windows found on residential houses, we suggest using a channel that’s between 12 - 22 inches in length. If you’re working with commercial windows, the 22 - 36 inch standard channel is ideal. And if you face a real monster of a window, we recommend the 72-inch Eliminator to tame the beast.
- For general jobs: For average-sized windows on either residential or commercial buildings, it’s safe to use the standard channel that’s 10 - 16” in length.
- For awkward-shaped windows: When you face windows with a tricky shape or awkward angle, such as French windows, we suggest the Sörbo Multi-Squeegee Adjustable Channel, a precision-engineered squeegee that is built to tackle tough windows. Another favorite, the Sörbo Tricket, is a unique, tong-like squeegee-scrubber combination tool that is adept at cleaning jalousie or louvered-type windows. Squeeze down to scrub or squeegee both sides of the blinds at once to make quick work!
Channel Type:
Sörbo offers two distinct channel types, wide-body and standard. Although it’s wise to have both options in your toolkit, which one you use depends on the needs of the job.
- The wide-body channel: This channel covers large window faces, while standard channels cover everything in between. The Cobra Channel is a wide-body channel crafted from lightweight yet durable aluminum and is built for high-performance cleaning. Its distinct grooved rubber ensures reliable glide and consistent results. Available in 14 and 18-inch sizes, each channel features 40° tapered ends for enhanced edge detailing and precision. If you’re cleaning commercial buildings, chances are you’re going to face wide-faced windows, which will require greater coverage than a wide-body channel supplies. Wide-body channels are also ideal for high-rise window cleaning work!
- The standard channel: The Sörbo Ultralight Squeegee Channel is a standard channel that gives you superior results. These traditional squeegee channels feature the easy-to-remove end clips Sörbo is well known for, making switching out rubber a breeze. If you handle mostly residential buildings that have smaller windows, a standard channel will suffice. However, even residential homes can have larger window surfaces like sliding screen doors, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to be prepared and have both on the job site with you, just in case!
Handle Type:
Sörbo has designed two handle varieties to meet the demands on the job, either swivel or fixed.
- Fixed Handle: The reliable glide of a fixed handle means it stays in one position, leaving you to cover the action necessary to glide across glass. The Sörbo Complete Ultralight Squeegee contains the Ultralight Sörbo Aluminum Fast Release Squeegee Handle, which provides you with a comfortable grip and a quick-release button for easy channel swapping.
- Swivel Handle: A swivel handle gives your wrist a break! Window cleaners love the classic Sörbo Swivel Squeegee Handle for its ability to snap into different angles. This smooth swivel action allows proper contact with the glass while navigating awkward angles, deep sills, and hard-to-reach areas with ease. A built-in fast-release mechanism on swivel handles makes switching channels quick and seamless, helping users stay productive without wasting precious time.
Complete vs. Components:
We offer Sörbo squeegees as complete sets and as separate parts. When is it best to buy a complete squeegee versus parts, such as a channel or a handle?
- When a Complete is Best: If you’re new to the window cleaning game, chances are you need a complete squeegee so that you can hit the ground running straight out of the box. But if you’re a seasoned window cleaner, you can play around with different combinations to build your perfect squeegee setup.
- When Components are Best: Buying the parts for a squeegee is the better bet when you want to customize your squeegee or just need to replace a piece on it.
- Handles: Sörbo offers swivel and fixed options for handles depending on your style. Then be sure to pick wide-body or standard, depending on which channels you run.
- Channels: There are two types of channels, with wide-body being the most popular and standard covering small window cleaning jobs with ease.
Rubber: All squeegee channels come with a strip of squeegee rubber pre-installed, but once that wears down, you’ll need to replace it. That’s why we suggest buying rubber in packs so you can quickly replace your rubber when you need to! You may need different rubbers due to temperature changes in the weather as well, so it’s best to go prepared.
